Fight on Land, Sea or Air in Battlefield 1943 on July 9
Kick Off Summer With the Must-Have Downloadable Game for Only $15
STOCKHOLM - DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio, today announced that Battlefield 1943™ will be exclusively available July 8th on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace and July 9th on the PlayStationŽNetwork. Battlefield 1943 is an all-new download-only action game that brings DICE’s first-class vehicular warfare to gamers for just $15, or 1200 MS Points.
Battlefield 1943 is a critically-acclaimed First-Person Shooter (FPS) multiplayer game that puts players in the middle of a dogfight on land, sea or in the skies. The game introduces two thrilling new modes that can be played across four classic Battlefield tropical WWII maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Coral Sea. These maps are inspired by the award winning Battlefield 1942™ game, but have been redesigned and reengineered using the DICE destructible Frostbite™ engine which takes down walls, blockades and cover spots, leaving players with almost nowhere to hide. The game delivers endless hours of social online gameplay – an extraordinary value at just $15.
The Coral Sea map which is included in the game will be unlocked as part of a worldwide community challenge, where players will work together to...

Battlefield Heroes offering Michael Jackson "tribute"
Like everyone else we were shocked and sad to hear about the premature death of Michael Jackson at the age of 50 last week. The news of his death was apparently enough to bring down parts of the Internet as tons of users hit news web sites reporting on his demise. Since then the media has been paying tributes to Jackson's life with retrospectives, specials and the like. Those tributes are now extending to games. The just launched Battlefield Heroes free-to-play shooter from Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts is offering folks a chance to purchase some new in-game outfits for their characters. As you can see on the the right, those suits look an awful lot like Jackson's costumes in his 1980's music videos. The suits are just available for the month of July. ...

The Battlefield 1943 buzz is starting to ramp up with the release coming soon. Here are some of the news worthy items happening the past couple days.
Xbox.com has a Battlefield 1943 page up with information on the game and some "box art", although the game is download only.
On the EA UK forums, Producer Gordon Van Dyke has shed some light on how the match system will work in the game.
Remembered this detail that might help; There is one person the creates the Lobby and sets the Server to the map, once he invites one person (i.e. other clan leader if it is a clan match) and he invites people he knows that the lobby creator might not. The creator of the Lobby then manages the team and sorts who is on what team. So if friends want to muck about have your friends invite their friends. Bit tired today, so let me know if that makes any sense... If you are looking to win a copy of Battlefield 1943 DICE is running a Twitter challange involving various tasks you must complete. Full details can be found ...

 | What's Next for DICE? | |
|
June 17th, 2009 - Written by Mr. BlueZone

1UP recently sat down with DICE Creative Director, Lars Gustavsson and discussed Mirror's Edge as well as Bad Company 2, Heroes, and BF1943.
UP: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was announced less than a year after the first game came out. Was a sequel already planned when you were wrapping up the first game?
LG: Yeah, there were thoughts around it.
1UP: How far along is development on that?
LG: It's quite far gone, and it's said to be shipping in winter, so we still have some time to go. But overall, when we made Bad Company, we built a new engine and had lots of challenges that we had to overcome in making a Battlefield single-player game for the first time. This time, we are so much better off with the tools chain, and with the knowledge of how to build good missions. So I'm having a really good time in the office right now playing multiplayer tests on a daily basis, and I'm going to play single-player when I get back. So yeah, it's looking good. Read the rest...
